整経

整経とは

「セイケイ」漢字に直すと「整経」と書きます。『整＝ととの(える)』＋『経＝たて(糸)』の意味で出来たと思われる言葉で、織物のたて糸を準備する仕事です。「経」の字は地球の緯度経度の漢字をイメージすると解りやすいかもしれません。普通に生活していたら先ず巡り会わない言葉なのではないでしょうか？

機屋さん（布を織る仕事）から注文を受けて、お預かりした糸を、必要な巾に、必要な本数、適切な密度、均等な張力、必要な長さ、指示通りのデザインで、織り機に仕掛けるためのパーツ(ビームやチキリと呼ばれるモノ)に、巻き取って納品します。

分業の発達した京都などの産地では「下職」と呼ばれる仕事の一つで、預かった材料の形を変えてお客様に返すことから、糸染屋さんなどと同じく、一括りに「加工屋」と呼ばれることもあります。

整経には一般的に「手整経」「一本整経」「部分整経」「荒巻整経」の四種類があって、手＞一本＞部分＞荒巻の順に糸のロスが少なく、小ロット生産に向いています。けれど逆にそのぶん時間や手間がかかるため、たくさん作らなければならない場合、向いているのは逆になります。

ほかにも、それぞれの整経方法に色々な制約やメリット、デメリットがあって、上手く使い分けながらいろいろな布が作られています。山西整経で出来るのは、その内の「部分整経」で他の整経は出来ません。

In addition, each warping method has various restrictions, advantages, and disadvantages, and various cloths are made while using them properly. What Yamanishi warping can do is "partial warping", and other warping cannot be done.

ワインダー / WAINDER

お客様から預った糸を整経加工に必要な本数に分ける「分割」と言う作業のための道具。他にも複数本の糸を重ねて同時に使うための「合糸」。糸を染色に適した「枷」と呼ばれる状態から、その他の作業に適した「チーズ」と呼ばれる形状に巻き直す工程「チーズアップ」にも用いられます。

Process / 整経の工程

Process.01

「どうすれば実現するのか考える」

発注者の要望を聞き、素材の品質と量、道具が確保されているか、内容に矛盾がないか、対応が可能かどうかを確認して、どのような方法で実現するのかを考えます。

「糸を分ける（分割）」

デザインを効率よく実現するために、「ワインダー」と言う道具で糸を必要な長さ、必要な本数に分けます。

Process.03

「糸をセットする」

分けた糸を指定されたデザインが実現できるように整経機の「屏風」と言う場所にセットします。一本づつ手で配置します。

Process.04

「ドラム上に並べる」

セットした糸を、指定されたデザイン、巾、長さが実現するよう「ドラム」に並べて巻いて行きます。

Process.05

「織機に仕掛けるための道具に巻きとる」

ドラムに糸が並んだら織機に仕掛けるための道具「ビームや千切」にまとめて巻き返します。均等な張力で巻き取るのがポイントです!

機屋さんで緯糸と一緒になって布になります。たての糸は整経屋さん、よこの糸は機屋さんの仕事です。
